Wait, do you really need a twin mattress? I personally can’t fit in a twin mattress, my my daughter can. Twin mattresses are good for children and short-height people, if you are tall, the twin matters are not for you.
If you are going to buy a twin mattress, I would always say to go for a fiberglass free twin mattress, it may cost a bit more, but at least you’ll get a safer, healthier, and more comfortable sleep.

1. Purple Original Twin Mattress
I personally use Purple mattresses and I can say it is one of the best fiberglass free twin mattresses. Purple has this unique design in which they use a material called hyperelastic foam which is used in place of fiberglass as a fire retardant.
Apart from its fire barrier properties, it also gives a very comfortable feel and a good sleep.
Firmness
If I talk about the firmness of the Purple mattress if you are going to buy their original twin mattress, the firmness level is 4-6 out of 10 which is a medium firm, but if you want firmer you can go for the hybrid one, if you want softer you can check the Purple Plus or Purple Premier twin mattress.
Why You Should Buy the Purple Original Twin Mattress
If you:

- are a hot sleeper
- are a back or stomach sleeper
The most important thing is the mattress is fiberglass free, secondly, it really depends on the type of sleeper you are. I am using their flagship Original twin mattress, being a back and combination sleeper I really liked the mattress’s feel and comfort.
It’s good that the Purple mattress has different mattresses for different sleep types. If you are a side sleeper you probably should buy a softer mattress and in that case, you can go for the Purple Premier or Plus.
If you are someone who is a heavy back or stomach sleeper, go for the Purple Hybrid.
2. Helix Core Collection Twin Mattress
What I like about the Helix mattresses is they have a wide range of options to choose from. But as we need a fiberglass free twin size mattress, let’s see which is the best one they have.
Apart from their wide range, all Helix mattresses are hybrid which should work for all body types. If you have a budget, I would say you should check their Helix Lux models, they are really good.
Now let’s continue with the Helix Core collection mattress. There are three types of mattresses in their Core collection:
- Soft Feel mattress
- Medium Feel mattress
- Firm Feel mattress
All three types have two different variants including side support and back & stomach support.
Soft Feel mattress – I found the Helix Sunset softest of all with a firmness level of 5.5 out of 10, whereas the Helix Moonlight mattress is a bit firmer scoring 6 out of 10, still softer than the average.
Medium Feel mattress – Then I tested the most popular model which is Helix Midnight, I found the firmness level close to 7 out of 10, which is firmer than the above two. The Helix Dusk comes with the same medium firmness of 7 out of 10.
Firm Feel mattress – The Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn, the firmest model, has a firmness level of 7.5 out of 10.
Who Should Buy Helix Core Collection Twin Mattress
You get a wide range of mattresses if you want a Helix mattress, but I like the Helix Midnight and Helix Dusk best for me as I am a back sleeper.
But If you are a side sleeper, the Helix Sunset and Helix Moonlight would be the best option as these are the two softest models from Helix
Talking about the stomach sleepers, the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight would be the best option in my experience.
3. Tuft and Needle Twin Mattress
When it comes to the best fiberglass free twin mattress, it would be unfair if you had not added the Tuft and Needle mattress.
I’ll be talking about the Tuft and Needle original mattress, you can also check out their other premium models but if you are looking for an affordable and comfortable mattress, you won’t regret it.
The original basically has two layers of foam, layer of a dense support foam and a layer of TNN adaptive foam. The firmness is 4-6 out of 10 which is medium firm and will suit all sleeper types, mostly side and combination sleepers.
Final Verdict
If you ask me, I like all three mattresses, now it really depends on how much you can spend on a mattress. I have listed my best fiberglass free twin mattress which is available in the market and which I would like to buy.
If you want an affordable fiberglass free twin mattress, my recommendation would be the Tuft and Needle mattress, if you can move a bit more then you should definitely check for the Purple and the Helix mattresses.
